My La Crema twelve-string shown here was made from solid Indian rosewood, Honduras mahogany and curly maple with an Engleman spruce top. This guitar was constructed especially for a client who wanted additional bass strings. The result was a striking instrument, well balanced, with a wide range of timbres and an effortless action.

Options and Ordering:

Woods: Any guitar can be made of the back and side woods listed on this site. Occasionally wood is available from sequential cuts on the same tree, so two guitars can be made almost identical in appearance. Prices are based on the market price for the woods at the time the order is placed. Normally only Brazilian rosewood, curly Koa and some select, very figured woods will incur an additional price. Please feel free to inquire here.

Scale lengths: 640, 650, or 660mm are available at no extra charge. Inquire if you need a special scale length.

Fingerboard markers: Available in fine pearl in your choice of positions for an additional $10 per marker.

Fret wire: Both high and low fret wire is available at no extra cost.

Finishes: The standard finish is French polish for the top, with quality lacquer for the back and sides. All-French polish is available for an additional $350. All-lacquer finish including a very fine, thinly applied lacquer to the top is available at no extra cost.

Bridge: Bridges are available in Brazilian rosewood or Ceylon ebony at the standard price, no extra charge.

Extra strings: Additional strings on the instrument, beyond the standard 6 and up to a total of 12, are available for an additional 15% of the base price of the finished guitar per string.

Tuners: Quality Schaller gold Hauser tuners are standard. Upgrade to other tuners is at the market price for the tuners. Feel free to supply your own tuners if you want something special.

Rosette/Purfling: Beside the standard rosette, many styles are available. Custom rosette design services are also available. Many variations from the standard formal black/white purfling are available. Please inquire.

Cases: Hard shell case or padded travel bag are standard. Many cases are available for additional cost, or you can supply your own and receive a modest credit.

A $250 nonrefundable deposit secures your order, and at that time all of the specifications of the guitar are agreed upon as well as the currency or exchange rate. This way there are no surprises for either party. For custom orders the total amount of the upgrades are added to the deposit. The balance is due at delivery. Delivery at the shop is encouraged.

The chestnut tree was planted by the Roman centurions. They planted these trees along the roads so they wouldn't have to carry any food.
