French
Polish technique adds deep luster...
French
Polish:
Applied in the traditional manner, this finish has been used
for hundreds of years. It produces the best sounding instrument.
French polish must be carefully cared for and renewed when it
shows signs of wear. It is easily repaired and is completely
nontoxic. The application of a fine French polish finish is
labor intensive, hence more expensive. My standard models include
a French polished top with lacquer back, sides, and neck for
durability. Available for the entire guitar as an option.
About
Lacquer:
This finish has been in use since the 1930's. It is especially
durable, transparent, and exceptionally beautiful. In my manner
of application no filler is used to fill the pores of the wood.
This allows the light to penetrate deeper into the wood, which
reveals all of its inherent luminescent qualities. Lacquer finish
is also easily repaired. It is a good choice for the soundboard
finish of student models when a more durable finish than French
polish is required. My lacquer is especially formulated for
guitars only.
